Fair warning: This is my first blog. Ever.
As some may know, I made the big move to Memphis on Thursday with 3 vehicles and a U-Haul trailer. The trip started out interesting with me getting sick and having to hang out the window while my dad flew down the highway. Just a side note: I will NEVER get coffee or creamer from a gas station again. On the bright side, I was able to get to my toothbrush and toothpaste easily so that was a blessing! After about a 4 to 5 hour drive, I saw the huge buildings and knew I had arrived to my home away from home for the next 4 years. It's still crazy to think I live in a big city with 5 lanes of traffic and a TON of one-way streets! It will take some getting used to but I think I can handle being a city girl for a few years ;). I got to meet my roommate and her family for the first time face to face and we are all so thankful for her. Both families have been praying for each other for about a year now and it was awesome to see how God answered that prayer. It was also awesome to see how quickly my room came together with my whole family working on it. By the way, never ask my dad to hang a picture because his version of measuring is "eyeballing" it. Needless to say, I have a few crooked pictures in my room now.
The weekend consisted of our families getting to know each other and LOTS of shopping! Memphis has the BEST thrift stores, which made me and Brittany extremely excited! I'm so glad I have a roommate that loves Jesus AND bargain shopping!! We have found amazing deals on furniture and "foo foo" stuff to decorate our apartment with. Since we were in Memphis, we, of course, had to eat some barbeque one night. I'm sure I'll be getting to eat lots of it over the next few years. There is just so much to do here. I love it. Saturday morning was the dreaded morning for my family because they were having to head back home. When I moved away to MC, we all boo-hood so I knew this would be even worse. Standing in a circle holding hands with each other and Brittany's family praying for God to receive glory in everything we do over the next 4 years made me realize how blessed I am to have the family I have. My parents always told me when I was around 13 and going through that rebellious-my parents don't know anything-stage that one day I would realize they are the best friends I could ever ask for and I'm finally starting to see that (just don't tell them I'm admitting it haha)! Don't even get me started on my little sister.....I HATED telling her bye. We are so close to be 10 years apart. It will be a lot of adjusting on my part and my family's but I know God is gonna get us through. I'm so excited to be here because I know in my heart this is where God wants me to be. He worked a miracle for me to get accepted and I'm still praising Him for it.
I know I have rambled a lot, but give me a break....this is my first blog. Hopefully next time I can figure out how to add pictures of my apartment :)
